On February 10th until February 14th, 2015, BINUS English Club (BNEC) successfully hosted The 2015 Asian English Olympics for the fourth time. The 2015 Asian English Olympics held in BINUS University drew the attention of more than 400 participants to participate in this event. No less than seven countries sent their delegations to compete in seven different fields, which are: Speech, Debate, Story Telling, Newscasting, Scrabble, Short Story Writing and Spelling Bee. The countries included are Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippine, Macau, Thailand and Hong Kong. With the theme “Tribe of Aces”, the committees hoped to build a new family that comprised of individuals from various ethnics who are great in their respective fields. Some professionals in those related fields also contributed to the success of this Olympics as the judges, such as News Anchor senior Dalton Tanonaka, storytelling Malaysian activists Shantini Venugopal, and even the world champion of WUDC (World University Debate Championship) James Beavis from Australia, and many more.

Lastly, Miriam College High School from Philiphine won the Institutional Champion, which is the institution that collected the most points during the 5 days competition. After the announcement of all the winners, it was followed by the Gala Dinner where participants could feel the togetherness which leads to a very memorable evening for everybody. We believed the next Asian English Olympics will be as successful as this year’s event and we are also anticipating better talents next year.
